    Hi Moms,

I am a working mom .I have a 8 months old baby.I have taken leave for few months to take care of my kid. After that I am planning to join the job back. Now I am in a confusion whether to put my baby in a daycare or keep any servant at home to take care of the kid once i join.Kindly suggest me which of the options would be better.

    Option 1 : Day Care

8 months is too young for a daycare…

child may take a long time to adjust unless urs is a very social baby

    option 2 : servant

better option if u can get someone who is relaible and trustworthy.

Better to get one of your family member so that your child is in safe hands and gets proper care. If this is not possible, you can appoint a reliable caretaker and train her in everything for a month or so till she is able to take care of the baby independently and carefully. Keep your immediate neighbors / local friends informed so that they can help the caretaker if child needs immediate attention for something. Pls check with your employer if you can work from home for few hours after working part-time in office so that you can minimize the number of hours you are away from baby. With such flexibility, you can work from home and at the same time keep an eye on child care at home till she becomes atleast 1 yr old. That way, you can put the child in a good day care in few months and join your full-time job back.

In my opinion, daycare is better option. Babies at this age needs lot of attention & single care taker might go out of patience if  she id not very close relative. In daycare there are many maids so even if your  baby gets 1 dedicated maid, others are always there for help. Also babies get bored being inside home all the time & with one person. In day care there will be other children aroud so she will not demand more attension. I admitted my daughter in daycare when she was 11 months old. Also there was another baby who started from the age of 5 months. most of day care provides live camera to watch your baby anytime which is again not possible at home. Anyway these are my personal views & you can think on them

Go for day care… before u join office.. take one month and test.. by putting ur chikd in day care. almost after one month she will be ok and happy gpoing there and u can go for ur job..

Go for day cares where the caretaker to chid ratio is 1:3.. and see tat intially u are with her.. slowly u can increase frm one hr pay day to finally 9 hrs per day..

Do not go for maids.. they keep chjanign often and its diffclt for the child to get accustomed.. out of my own exp i tel…Whn u r close the maids are ok… but whn u leae them alone without anybody to supervise they moslty prefer to stay outdoors… same thing hap , my maid used to take my son downstairs and outdoors during April and my and he got typhooid and he and myself suffered a lot. It took more than a month to come back to normal and now he is still not gaining wt and he looks like 9mnths old even though he is 1.5 yr.

Go and find a good day care first,. then put ur child intially one hr per day.. stay eith her for frist weekl, slowly u put her for 2 , 3 hrs and u strt and leave the place whn she is playing.. finally increase to 8 hrs per day…then u joij back office.. THs wud be a permant soln for u…

In my opinion daycare is a better option, because your baby need more attantion. In daycare there are many maids they take good care of your baby….

    Hi Suppu,

your profile shows you are from bangalore. I am in hyderabad & work in HiTech City. I prefer day care near to home than office.

Friendly speaking, I am against homeschooling. My opinion is that kids have to be among their peers and learn how to communicate with other people, not only with their parents and nurse, So, that is why I truly recommend you to put your baby in daycare. Actually, where do you live? I think I know a good various for you. My children are already at school. But my sister’s boy is in one of the daycare centres Brooklyn – https://littlescholarsnyc.com/. She told me about that place, and I was really impressed by it. They have classes with kids from their early childhood. They develop their skills in many spheres. So, by the end of the daycare period, your kid will be totally socialized and prepared for school.
