Color blindness occurs when there is a problem with the color-sensing granules (pigments) in certain nerve cells of the eye (cones). They are found in the retina the light-sensitive layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye.

Hi Shirleys mom…….
Your question took me back few years!!! my 12th std bio project topic was phenotypic characters…..
Color blindness is a phenotypic character…. no it is not caused by any deficiencies or anything… its a hereditary character. It is very rare for women… In our survey we found that only 1 out of some 35 girls we surveyed had a particular type of red green color blindness…..Yes there are different types of color blindness… It is not like we are gonna see the world in black n white or anything…though i dont know if there is anythin as severe as that…..
It is the inability to differentiate certain colors…..u may have noticed men sometimes call dark blue objects black…or orange objects red…and somethin similar…..thats exactly wat color blindness is all about…
There are various color charts available which test for color blindness…..im sure u could find some if u google color blindness charts….It’ll be a mixture of various colors and in that will be a hidden pattern…mybe a number or alphabet or something…………….those who can identify the pattern can perfetcly differentiate all the colors in that chart whereas a few may not be able to read the pattern within……….
hope this was informative to u…… 🙂 brought back memories of the fun we had doing this project…….thanks for the question!!!!

The most common cause of color blindness is a genetic defect. It is known that the defective gene is carried on the X chromosome, so males are almost exclusively the victim.
No cure exists for inherited color vision defects since they are caused by missing or incorrect visual pigments. Acquired color vision defects can be corrected sometimes if the underlying cause can be treated.
Special aids have been developed to help persons with color vision defects distinguish some of the colors that cause them trouble. These devices include specially tinted contact lenses and eyeglasses. However, these aids do not provide normal color vision and therefore should be used with caution.

Fortunately, I am suffering from this disease and sometimes I feel extremely lamentable about it. However, at least I can see anything. There are completely blind people and I feel sorry for them. It is very difficult for them to live in our world. However, I am glad that we can buy special ADA signs on adafab.com for them. With it, they are able to read all the necessary information. Fortunately, this shop is in NYC.
