  I just posted a question for the above recipe some 5days back and i got a few

  but i tried my own after searching over the net (Sorry gals who ve given a recipe for my query) I wanted to give the actual recipe after i try it…

I tried it yesterday and BINGO!! it came out pretty well(ellam en hubby kudutha feedback thaan) and here goes the recipe (am giving out the recipe for 2 so that u can make it accordingly)



Amla(Nellikai) – 5-6Nos

Grated Coconut -1/2 cup

Green Chillies -2

Ginger- Very small piece

Cooked Rice- 2 Cups

For Seasoning

Mustard(Kadugu) – 1 tsp

Urad dal – 1tsp

Bengal Gram dal(Kadalai Paruppu) – 1tsp

Ground Nut – 2 tsp

Onion(cut into small Pieces)- 1/4 cup

Dry Red Chilli-2

Curry Leaves-few

Asafoedita(Perungayam)-1/4 tsp

Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp

Salt -As needed

Oil(Preferably Sesame oil(Nallennai)


1. First cut the amla into small pieces after taking the seed out(u can cut along the lines so that it will be very easy and no wastage)

2. Now grind the cut amla,coconut,green chillies and a small piece of ginger into a fine paste

3. Heat oil in kadai then add Mustard seeds, urad dal,bengal gram dal, groundnut and red chillies and fry it till red .

4. Add curry leaves ,onions and fry it until the onions become transparent

5. Then add turmeric powder, asafoedita and salt and saute it for a while

6. Add the ground paste and saute it until it becomes light brown(the water gets dried up)

7. Finally add the rice and mix it well

8. Here goes the Nellikai rice
